Vessel Loft

The Vessel Loft owes its name to the declarative design intent to respect an 80-year-old brick-and-Douglas-Fir industrial loft structure. The goal was to consolidate existing services of two formerly separate units into a singular, coherent space – in such a way to preserve the original space’s long and wide views towards Lake Ontario and re-using existing mechanical systems.

Employing the skills of former boatbuilders for the rift-cut white oak cabinet skin, the effective ‘building-within-a-building’ provides an instrument which weaves between the more public and private spaces of domestic life.
